West Nile, Kitty Kats, and Longmont

Recently we've had this icky misty cloudy dark nonsense going on around here. I thought I had left this kinda blah rain behind when I moved out here. People in the studio tell me that this area hasn't had this kind of weather in years; of course it would show up as soon as I get out here. They also are talking about West Nile Virus and how this constant wet mess may make the mosquito pop rise and thus west nile. Hmm, we'll see.

John and I went and played with baby kitties yesterday at the Longmont Humane Society. We went to the Boulder one, but oddly enough they didn't have many cats and the ones they did have were expensive. The Longmont center kitties are about a hundred dollars less and they have more selection and more babies. The building itself is just weird; it looks like a concrete igloo. The people inside were interesting too. John had to hand over his license to be able to play with an individual kitten and apparently the lady in charge was concerned about his dc license. There was also a girl there walking around looking at animals who had dark dyed hair (not sure what color it was) that was in a mohawk, a serious mohawk, shaved sides and everything.

But maybe all this fits in with the Longmont way of life. John and I walked around downtown (before we went to the shelter) and window shopped through all the weird pawn/gun/accordian/taxodermy shops that were all over the place like bars are in Adams Morgan. Interesting town.
