September Snow Shakedown

John and I headed over the mountains and through the woods to Keystone this past weekend. He had a race on Sunday and I was along for an outing in the mountains. Saturday was spent sifting through two for one sales in Keystone and Breckenridge; we both got cozy hats, which came in handy later on in the weekend. I had borrowed a tent from a friend and we set it all up before we headed out for shopping and food. Looking out the window from Rasta Pasta we saw the rain start. Whoops, we didn't have a tarp set up under the tent quite yet, that was suppose to be one of our purchases that afternoon. The temperature started to drop and drop and we soon abandoned our tent for the evening to sleep over at John's friend Brett's place (aka. the mountainbike, ski man pad). I was woken on Sunday to John talking about the snow. Snow? Man. We knew it was going to be cold, but we didn't expect snow. John headed over to the race site and I hung out for a while longer in the warm and went over with the girls of the area (Brett's lady Lisa, Brett's roommates' lady Taylor, and Taylor's sister Kate). Three dogs came along with us too. We hiked up the trail a bit and watched the boys race up the first climb of the day. After standing around waiting for all this to go down (several hours), once they passed us we knew we had time to get coffee and warmness before they headed into the finish. After the race John and I went and broke down camp and headed back to Boulder, making a gas stop and look around Georgetown.
