I am very saddened by the news that historian Iris Chang died recently. She was an amazing historian and writer of The Rape of Nanking an important book about the Pacific War and the atrocities that happened during that time. When I read this book in a Holocaust class at Carolina I was sickened and amazed that such horrible things had happened and more important that no one really knows that it occurred. Iris Chang's work has really opened readers eyes to what has been kept quiet for so many years.
