Mutants and Me

John and I went and saw Xmen 3 last night to escape the oven that is our apartment. We had both read a bunch of reviews saying how terrible the movie was, but I didn't think it was that bad. I rather enjoyed it; I'm no critic or anything and maybe I have zero taste in movies, but I thought it was entertaining and well that's what movies are for. I've seen some bad movies and typically they make me want to hurl things at the screen. Xmen didn't make me go in that direction.

I did have a problem watching Kelsey Grammar as the beast. He didn't look a thing like good ol' Frasier Crane, unless Fraiser decided to forgo psychology and experiment with facial hair and blue dye, but I just couldn't help thinking "Frasier would never do that." Here's the beast kicking some ass and taking some names at Alcatraz in the last big battle of the movie and I'm half expecting Niles to walk in and ask for some grappo or some crap. Odd.

I always liked Gambit, so I think he should be in those movies one of these times. No, I'm no comic book collector or anything, but I have a brother who was into Marvel for a time in middle school. He had a few of the comics and some trading cards. Sometimes we'd watch the Xmen cartoons after school and then have "battles" between his Marvel action figures and my Barbies and My Little Ponies (my Barbies always kicked ass in my opinion b/c well they were taller than Michael's action figures and were well groomed). My point of this crap? I think a cajun talking, trenchcoat wearing, red headed punk who tosses cards that blow up would be a good character for the next film if and when that comes along.
