This past weekend was Moab weekend. We left Friday afternoon and traveled through rain practically the whole time. It didn't look good for our weekend fun, and it was sketchy as can be driving through pools of water through narrow canyon roads at night. Getting closer to Moab we drove though a couple muddy landslide areas. When we finally got the condos where we were staying everyone was just hanging out drinking beers and talking about the rain. We were all skeptical about the weather.
As it turned out Saturday and Sunday had fantastic weather. Everyone went out on either road or mtb rides; I went for a hike in Arches National Park. I've never seen anything like it. Very colorful and fun. We went to a few arches, partition arch, landscape arch, and some others that I don't remember what they were called. It was a good time though. Sunday, again everyone went on rides and I went to Arches. It was a good trip.
One thing that is funny about good ol' Moab that I didn't expect was that there seemed to be quite a few breweries and advertisements for wineries. What what? Utah is famous for their crappy 3.2 beer and their weird "sponsorship" system at bars. So how is it possible to have microbrews and wine 3.2? Maybe I'm missing something and Moab is outside that weirdness? We got our beer in Colorado so I never found out what was going on with the Utah alcohol.
Pictures are in flickr thing on the right.
