The house is coming together. We spent a good bit of our time this weekend cleaning things up and trying to get rid of the last few boxes we have hanging about. I drove around trying to find good deals on window treatments, side tables, rugs, etc... if only moving came with about $5000 for redecorating and setting things up. If we had the money our house would be really fantastic, but oh well, I'm happy to have found a $25 antique coat rack and $4 bathroom mat.
Saturday night John was at work and I was bored. Started texting friends to see what people were doing. Went down to Boulder and met up with Dave. We went to Trilogy and saw a funk band. It was a good time. There were some characters in the audience I've got to say. One dude looked like he was part of some Columbian drug ring. He was dressed in a black suit with a intense red button down shirt. Of course the collar was flipped outside the jacket and unbuttoned enough to show off his necklaces. This other dude looked like David Caradine. No kidding. He had long gray hair and a karate suit. I was a little loopy on cold medicine, but this was for real. White karate suit with a black belt tied around his waist. He was a real sight.
While the funk band did their thing (and they were pretty good, I was impressed) there were these two girls on either side of the stage wearing 80's clothes and painting. They started out with blank canvases at the beginning of the night and at the end of the funk band's set one had some sort of space adventure scene and the other had some sort of floral scene.
Last night, like the big nerd that I am, I got hooked watching some silly documentary about Marie Antoinette. It was getting late and all I really wanted to see was the part where she flips out and gets her head chopped off. I know what you're thinking, I'm demented. Of course that part comes at the very end; it's not like her biography continues much after her beheading. I was tired and couldn't make it to the end. I made it through her frivolous life in Versailles, the revolution, the attempted escape, Louis getting the ax, but gave up soon after. It was interesting though.
I've decided that I'd like a huge three foot wig.... not for Halloween or anything, just to wear around town, you know, to run errands in (bank, food store, pharmacy). I think that would be splendid.
