The Grandmother Tapes

I had a pretty remarkable grandmother who had a pretty remarkable life as the daughter of a Georgia governor. Her stories about growing up in the governor's mansion, the war, trips she's taken, etc are all fun and hypnotizing. It's no wonder that people were always asking her to speak to their club/group/association.

I have about six audio tapes and six video tapes of her telling her life story and for the past couple months I had been working on editing the audio part of this collection. Unfortunately, the quality of the audio sucks so my friend Jacob offered to help me fix it this weekend. He has been dubbed my "sound man" because he's got all the mixing nonsense and knowledge to help me improve the quality of my grandmother's audio.

All this means is that I have to redo all the cuts I already made on the tapes, which in the grand scheme of things isn't really that much. I have probably 12-16 hours of audio I need to cut down to about 3-4 hours, and I had only cut something like an hour of the first tape down to ~30 minutes. It's going to take me a while and I'm not really looking forward to having to start all over again, but well, I want the audio to sound good so there's really no option.

Maybe once I have the newly restored audio I'll scan some pictures, film and what not and cut together a trailer for my documentary and put it up here. That will probably help with momentum. Hopefully I can actually finish this thing one day.

Oh yeah. You've probably noticed but well the picture in this doesn't really have anything to do with anything other than I think it's hilarious. It's my cousin Kristin being a cloud.... yeah I don't know either. Ha!
